Pharmacy Tech Exams
What Pharmacy Tech Exams Can I Expect?
In most instances your chosen college will award you your certification on successful completion of the program. If you want to go on to apply for the National Pharmacy Technician Examination, you need to make contact with the Pharmacy Technician Examination board at least 2 months before you want to sit your national exams.

What Areas of Study are Most Frequently Encountered in Pharmacy Tech Exams and How are They Related to the Career?
Programs vary between colleges and states. In general you may learn about the following areas: pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical calculations, pharmacology and drug information, pharmaceutical care, health and safety, toxicology, hygiene, pharmaceutical science, pharmaceutical terminology, inventory management, stock taking, pharmacy management, pharmacy administration, and practical sessions to appraise your drug preparation technique for accuracy. You need to be skilled and knowledgeable in all these areas if you want to be an asset to your employer. Hospitals and care homes may require more patient interaction skills than online or retail pharmacies. Many people's problems are minor and can be dealt with quickly and easily by a Pharmacy Technician using over the counter preparations. This training is designed to educate you in the reading, preparing, filling, packaging, and recording of dispensed medicines. While you will usually carry out these tasks unsupervised, a Pharmacist will generally check your work before finally giving it to the patient.
